Description:

A special procedures technologist operates medical imaging equipment used in patient testing to help diagnose and treat illnesses. As a special procedures technologist, you may work in a variety of healthcare settings, including clinics, hospitals, and imaging centers. Job duties include working with and observing radiology equipment like CT and MRI machines, positioning patients for procedures, monitoring vital signs like blood pressure, explaining tests, and answering patient questions.

  • Prepare the imaging equipment and patient for specialized diagnostic or interventional procedures, ensuring all necessary supplies and instrumentation are available.
  • Provide compassionate and supportive care to patients during procedures, addressing their concerns and ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process.
  • Operate complex imaging equipment, such as fluoroscopy, angiography, or MRI, to obtain high-quality images that aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Collaborate closely with healthcare providers, assisting during procedures by monitoring patients, administering contrast agents, and providing real-time imaging guidance.
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols, ensuring radiation exposure is minimized, and equipment is properly maintained. Participate in quality control measures to uphold the highest imaging standards.
