The Electrical High Voltage Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for high voltage electrical projects. This role requires a keen attention to detail, extensive knowledge of high voltage systems, and the ability to analyze complex project specifications. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure that all estimates meet project requirements and financial objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Estimate Preparation:

    • Analyze project plans, specifications, and requirements to develop detailed cost estimates.
    • Perform material take-offs and calculate labor, material, and equipment costs.
    • Research and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotes to ensure competitive pricing.

  2. Bid Development:

    • Prepare and submit comprehensive bid proposals for high voltage electrical projects.
    • Review and interpret bid documents, ensuring all requirements are addressed.
    • Coordinate with project managers and engineers to finalize bid packages.

  3. Cost Analysis:

    • Conduct thorough cost analysis for all project components, identifying potential cost-saving opportunities.
    • Develop and maintain cost databases, historical data, and estimating standards.
    • Monitor market trends and pricing fluctuations to provide accurate cost forecasts.

  4. Client and Stakeholder Communication:

    • Engage with clients to understand project scope and requirements.
    • Present and explain cost estimates and bid proposals to clients and stakeholders.
    • Address client inquiries and provide revisions to estimates as needed.

  5. Project Coordination:

    • Collaborate with project managers to ensure estimates align with project schedules and objectives.
    • Assist in the preparation of project budgets and cost control strategies.
    • Support the transition from estimation to project execution by providing detailed handover documentation.

  6. Compliance and Quality Assurance:

    • Ensure all estimates comply with industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.
    • Implement quality control procedures to maintain accuracy and consistency in estimates.
    • Continuously improve estimating processes and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating high voltage electrical projects.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., Bluebeam, Accubid, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of high voltage electrical systems, components, and construction methods.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
