We're looking for experienced sit-down forklift operators with a starting pay rate of $19.00-$21.00 per hour, depending on experience and equipment knowledge. This is a direct-hire role, so you'll be part of our team from the start And the benefits don't end there.

Responsibilities:

  • Load, unload, move, and stage product by operating various equipment such as sit-down forklift, reach truck, and/or cherry picker. Perform daily equipment inspections prior to operation.
  • Pull and prepare product for shipping including but not limited to banding, stretch wrapping, block and brace.
  • Utilize RF scanner.
  • Follow established company policies and procedures.
  • Monthly Cycle Counts for Specific Customers per Their Request
  • Daily Empty Bin Reporting
  • Daily Cycle Counts
  • Inventory Control
    • Processing Damaged Goods
      • Processing Damaged Goods Reports (DGRs)
      • Processing Product in Synapse
        • Adjusting Inventory Status
        • Adjusting Existing LP (if Necessary)
        • Build Pallet with New LP (if Necessary)
      • Migrating Product to Proper Storage Areas both Physically and Systematically
    • Tracking Traceability for Operator Inventory Procedure Violations
    • Managing Waste & Damaged Goods Disposal Timelines with SM
  • Yard Management Counts in Smartsheet
  • Custom Inventory Projects as Needed

Qualifications:

  • Must have 1-3 years of forklift/Reach truck experience in a logistics environment.
  • Flexible work schedule: must be able to come in early, stay late, and/or work weekends depending on operational needs.
  • Must be able to work in a congested area(s) and non-climate controlled warehouse.
  • Experience in a Desktop Warehouse Management System Application Preferred/ Technologically Savvy
  • Handling hazardous material is a plus.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs, adjust the body to bend, push, pull, stretch, stoop, squat, and grab; walk and sit for extended periods.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of performing basic math functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.

Palmer Distribution Services, Inc. was started in the mid-1960s by Frank Rifeschlagger as a public warehouse and trucking company servicing the grocery and chemical industries in Houston, TX. The name comes from a street where the first warehouses were located. After William Hermann took over and provided services, he successfully revitalized during the 1980s. In 1988, Hermann Services acquired Palmer as part of an effort to expand its operations regionally. The Palmer name was used for 9 years until 1997, when the division was renamed Hermann Warehouse Southwest, but it was short-lived after the division was renamed in 2000.
