JOB OVERVIEW:

This position will assist the QI Nurse Manager to provide QI support and related activities to the organization. The Nurse Educator will be responsible for working with the QI Nurse Manager to teach and guide MA/Nurses and DA/Sterile Techs, evaluate progress, and communicate outcomes to QI leadership and the Clinic Managers. The goal will be to ensure staff are competent, safe, and productive. As the agency participates in MA or DA apprenticeship programs, this position will act as oversight and liaison with the agency apprenticeship program. This position will ensure staff understand and follow all Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) protocols and QI processes. The Nurse Clinical Educator will participate in all QI meetings, assist the QI Nurse Manager in preparation for these meetings, and organize reports for them.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Conduct training needs assessment for clinical staff annually. Develop and present training as needed.
  • Meet with front line staff to assess training programs and effectiveness for learners.
  • Assist with development of training aids such as manuals and handbooks.
  • Develop and oversee of Medical Assistant Registered (MAR) training program.
  • Oversee and evaluate MA/DA apprenticeship programs.
  • Present training programs using recognized training techniques and tools and with a variety of delivery methods.
  • Design and apply assessment tools to measure training effectiveness. Track assessments and compliance with training and report to the Risk Management Committee.
  • Participate in new hire orientation.
  • Assist quality improvement team with reports and audits, present date, and track progress as needed.
  • Assist with the Washington Immunization Information System (WAIIS) web training for vaccine management and assist QI to oversee Vaccine for Children (VFC) program compliance.
  • Assist with Annual Competency and peer review Audits and outcomes to identify educational needs for back-office nursing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
