Summary

Clemson Child Development Center is in search of an Assistant Director to aid current Center Director in the daily operations and needs of the Center. The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting the Center Director in ensuring the health, safety, and quality of education for all children within the Center's care. Under the direction of the Center Director, the Assistant Director collaborates with staff to ensure that curriculum and classroom activities are properly delivered and that the needs of the students and the goals of the Center are met appropriately. Under the direction of the Center Director, the Assistant Director collaborates with staff to develop and complete professional development plans for the year.

Duties

- Assume duties of Center Director and Teachers as needed during their absence.
- Ensure that Center maintains compliance with guidelines and regulations of state and federal agencies including SC DSS, ABC and USDA.
- Collaborate with staff to ensure adherence to quality standards set forth by ABC and First Steps 4K program.
- Work with teachers and staff to make improvements where needed in the curriculum and classroom settings to meet standards put forth by ABC and First Steps 4K program.
- Monitor any maintenance needed to the building grounds to assure they are safe for children.
- Maintain and manage professional development plans for staff, assist with any continuing education and CPR/First Aid requirements.
- Assist in the overseeing of USDA food program implementation.
- Work closely with the Center Director in the hiring of teachers and staff.
- Maintain a close relationship with teachers and parents in meeting the needs of children with challenging behaviors or learning difficulties.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or higher in early childhood education or related field of study.
  • Infant/Child CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Completion of 15 hours of Health and Safety Training or ECD 101
  • 3 - 5 years of direct professional experience in an early childhood setting.
  • High energy.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • A strong understanding of child development.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills..
  • Must clear full background check.
  • Must pass health screening.
  • Must be able to lift 40lbs repeatedly during the course of each day.
  • Must be able to sit on the floor with children and be able to get up quickly.
