Job Summary: The Mobile Housing Retention Specialist will be a member of a dedicated team whose mission is to support those who were experiencing houselessness and recently moved from a shelter and emergency shelter settings to permanent housing. The Mobile Housing Retention Specialist will work with their own case load to assist with participants’ housing placement while leveraging supportive services to assist the participant in maintaining permanent housing.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Use a strengths-based, participant-centered lens to work with individuals who have recently moved from shelter to housing. Meet regularly with each individual on your caseload and conduct regular home visits.
- Assist individuals and households through the process of stabilizing into housing and building towards sustainability.
- Request Client Assistance Funds via the CAF process.
- Complete payments for participants who are utilizing our support for utility bills or rental payments.
- Upload receipts for credit card purchases and complete company credit card transactional procedures.
- Be able to work with the individuals to identify needs and barriers to maintaining housing including basic needs, access to healthcare, access to mental health services, assistance with interpersonal skills, improved financial ability, access to employment services and/or access to substance use services.
- Create and regularly review individual service plans for each participant on your caseload.
- Assist with referrals and connections to area resources that meet the individual’s identified goals or needs.
- Work with individuals on your caseload to see that they understand their tenant rights and responsibilities.
- Provide eviction prevention and housing stability counseling as necessary in response to issues or in accordance with service plan goals.
- Maintain good working rapport with property managers and landlords. Work with PM’s, landlords and with the individual on your case load to address any issues that could impact housing stability. Advocate for individuals on your case load when necessary and assist with access to legal resources if necessary.
- Understand the AGNW theory of change, and work with individuals on your caseload to build resiliency through connections to their community, an improved health and wellness, an improved ability to tolerate stress, and an improved sense of efficacy, belonging and meaning in their lives.
- Ensure all documentation is effectively maintained and ensure that all case notes are completed within an acceptable timeframe.
- Attending weekly staff meetings and other agency meetings or trainings in accordance with agency policies or norms.
- Provide effective and timely communication in verbal and written form to supervisors, agency directors, or outside staff in response to issues or incidents, and in accordance with agency policies or guidelines.

Required Experience:
- Associate degree or higher in a human service related field.
- 2 Years’ experience in providing related services working with a similar population.
- Must have a valid driver’s license in OR and must be able to maintain a clean driving record.
- Knowledge of area resources and service providers
- Experience working with individuals who have experienced chronic houselessness.
- Experience working with individuals with chronic health issues, mental health issues and/or substance use issues.
- Working computer knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Office programs
Preferred Education:
- Master’s or bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, or another related field (Preferred).
- Other relevant training or experience.
- Lived experience.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Understanding of Housing First and Harm Reduction models.
- Being open to change (positive or negative) and to considerable variety in the workplace.
- Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, vendors, and community partners by telephone, e-mail, or in person.
Additional eligibility requirements:
- Sufficient manual dexterity and physical ability to perform assigned tasks.
- Must be able to pass a background check upon hire..
