Job Description: Emergency Landing Space Specialist

Mission: FLITE Center, supported by a coalition of service providers, is a central resource for youth that prepares them to lead successful lives after aging out of foster care.

Position Objective: This position is responsible for the implementation of supportive housing services on behalf of FLITE Center. The housing success coach serves as a resource expert, advocate, and liaison in the maintenance of affordable housing for transitioning youth living in Broward County. The right candidate will be able to identify and assess community needs and availability of living arrangement options for youth in the TIL System of Care. Must work with program participants, provider staff, landlords, property owners, etc. to ensure that all young people have adequate shelter during the transition from out of home care to independence.

Responsibilities:

• To supervise and coordinate the implementation of housing program expectations at the various locations.

• Coordination of housing related services for transitioning youth living in the home.

• To act as a liaison between the youth, support staff, and housing providers to maintain emergency living arrangement placement.

• To collaborate with the housing team to locate and develop permanent housing options.

• To ensure that each young person is appropriate for the housing options through pre-screening, intake assessment and joint monitoring efforts.

• Assist in the coordination and implementation of Life Skills sessions for the youth and distribute incentives to the youth as needed. Topic areas include but are not limited to cooking, cleaning, laundry, budgeting and paying bills, scheduling appointments, etc.

• Assist the program participants in meeting goals as stated in their Individual Service Plans and Transition plans.

• Advocate on behalf of the young person.

• Assist the program participants in identifying community resources for issues/topics including but limited to housing, education, vocational training, life skill development, relationships, therapeutic services, and health services in collaboration with the youth’s team of system professionals and natural supports.

• Maintain accurate and timely records and program documentation, including tracking data for the program grant and agency reporting.

• Responsible for addressing facility management needs (i.e.: maintenance/repairs requests, security oversight, supply/food shopping, furniture requests, etc.) as needed.

• Conduct weekly house meetings at various locations as scheduled/needed.

• Attend biweekly supervision and case staffing/conferences as scheduled/needed.

• Conduct Casey Life Skills Assessment with client at intake, 6 months, every 6 months thereafter and at program completion.

• Create & review client’s budget monthly and disseminate information to youth’s professional staff as needed (ie: child advocates, life coaches, therapist, probation officers, etc.)

• Report track all runaway incident and incidents of lease violations.

• Provide necessary support and follow up for program participants to ensure various needs are met.

• Maintain participant contact to assure compliance and stability in the housing arrangement.
