Balcones Resources is looking to hire a full-time Director of Accounting for our dynamic, fast-growing organization. The Director of Accounting is a vital part of our back-office operations team supporting multiple recycling facilities nationwide. This position is critical in developing the accounting team and helping the company to achieve it growth plans. Candidate must have a great attitude, excellent communication skills, detail oriented, be adaptable and comfortable in an ever-changing environment. This position reports to the company’s CFO and is located in Austin, Texas.


Director of Accounting

Primary Responsibilities:

Accounting

  • Develops and maintains accounting policies and practices that ensure compliance with US GAAP accounting and control requirements.
  • Manages the General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Fixed Assets.
  • Manages processes to support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement close processes.
  • Lead billing standards/procedures companywide, maintain training manuals and companywide training.
  • Responsible for Insurance compliance and communications.
  • Ensures tax compliance across all states.
  • Support budget and audit requests.
  • Oversee daily operations of the accounting department (6).
  • Implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Department Development

  • Supports implementation of accounting functions within ERP system. Coordinates with other departments to integrate accounting system with the operations platform as it grows and evolves.
  • Identifies and evaluates technology tools to support accounting department functions.
  • Manage special projects.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting from a four-year college or university.
  • Eight+ years of progressive accounting experience with a minimum of 4+ years of direct supervisory experience/ leading teams.
  • Expert knowledge of financial data collection, analysis, and evaluation.
  • Familiarity with ERP and CRM software packages
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel)
  • CPA Accreditation a plus
