Financial Consultant

Empirical is actively seeking a Financial Consultant, a pivotal role in our operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for testing/evaluating management practices and procedures with regards to sound internal controls and recommending/executing process improvements. The ideal candidate will have experience in federal financial accounting and knowledge of how to organize, review, and reconcile large amounts of accounting data, as this role will be primarily focused on building financial reports, reconciling data across multiple sources, and reviewing data sets to identify efficiencies and/or areas for improvement. The Opportunity

The Financial Consultant will be part of a high-performing team helping identify, design, and implement improved processes that transform reporting functions by providing internal controls, financial systems, and program operations support.

  • Assist clients with optimizing their accounting and financial reporting operations.
  • Advise our clients on technical accounting and internal control matters.
  • Implement technical solutions to improve fiscal management activities.
  • Assist with financial statement compilation and reporting efforts.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiencies in work process and innovative approaches to completing scope of work.
  • Participate in team problem solving efforts and other ideas to solve client issues.
  • Maintain responsibility for completion and accuracy of work products.
  • Assist in proposal development, as needed.
  • Actively expand consulting skills and professional development through training courses, mentoring, and daily interaction with clients
  • Support ad hoc requests such as researching topical accounting/auditing issues, developing, and reviewing position papers, providing integration support.
  • Identify ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness of financial business processes.
  • Assist clients in analyzing projects and programs to identify risks and help develop, apply, and monitor mitigations.
  • Review deliverables for accuracy and quality.
  • Provide coaching to junior staff.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline
  • A minimum of 4 years of accounting-related work experience in federal financial management, auditing supporting financial statement audit activities.
  • 1 year of experience with CGI Momentum financial, acquisition, and budget solution.
  • Excellent leadership, organization, and people skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
