The ideal candidate has appraisal review experience, a strong attention to detail and is able to work well both on a team and independently.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for reviewing appraisals and evaluations on loans secured by real estate and used in the credit decision process. This position will support the loan origination and renewal process by ensuring that risk appropriate collateral valuation standards are followed according to Interagency Appraisal and Evaluation Guidelines and compliance with regulatory and bank policy requirements.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position generally scheduled to work 40 hours per week.

Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

Education And Experience Required

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Three (3) years of banking or related experience required.
  • Two (2) years of experience in obtaining, reviewing and managing appraisal process or combination of education and relevant experience required.

Knowledge

  • Ability to prioritize variances in processing demands to ensure that time sensitive assignments and tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Ability to work with minimal or no supervision while performing tasks.

Communication Skills

  • Superior customer service, interpersonal and teamwork skills required.

Critical Thinking Skills

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be a self-starter, a problem solver and possess the ability to complete a project from start to finish.

Required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Valid Driver’s License

Software Skills Required

  • Proficient use of internet, computers, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) required.

Work Environment

  • This job operates in a professional office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, keyboards, phones, photocopiers, and scanners.

Travel

  • Minimal travel, typically to attend staff meetings or trainings.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Appraisal Software – Collateral 360

  • Process and review daily requests for new appraisals;
  • Review and determine all required documents are received from the customer and submitted to appraiser;
  • Act as a mediator between lending staff and appraisers;
  • Maintain and monitor appraisal requests until completion;
  • Review system generated reports for quality and accuracy;
  • Maintain records for appraisal invoices and payments.

2. Perform an independent appraisal review of real estate appraisals and evaluations ordered on behalf of Rio Bank or another acceptable financial institution.

  • Ensure that the appropriate approaches, methods, and techniques are applied;
  • Ensure they are completed in accordance with regulatory requirements and bank policy;
  • Identify deficiencies and inaccuracies with proposed resolutions to correct;
  • Perform assignments with impartiality, objectivity, and independence from loan production during the review process.

3. Additional duties may also include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the development and coordination of the banks appraisal policy and appraisal review program to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements;
  • Assist management by researching and disseminating changes in the laws and regulations governing appraisal requirements;
  • Assist in developing tools for staff such as checklists and reference guides;
  • Maintain Approved Appraiser Listing by reviewing the qualifications and sample reports of appraisers seeking to be added and recommending deleting those not meeting policy standards.
