Position Overview (In Office Position)
We are seeking a dynamic HR Generalist for a temporary 6-month contract to support our Human Resources team during a Leave of Absence (LOA), with the potential for a permanent role or extension based on performance and organizational needs. As an HR Generalist at FAI, you will play a key role in managing various HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, compliance, and payroll support. Job purpose:
The HR Generalist is responsible for providing comprehensive support in various human resources functions, including recruitment, compliance, and HR administration. This role also serves as a backup for payroll processing and supports HR projects and initiatives to enhance organizational effectiveness. The HR Generalist plays a key role in facilitating onboarding, conducting employee engagement activities, and supporting HR metrics and reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the recruitment process, including job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, and selection.
  • Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires from the post-offer stage through day one, escalating issues and concerns to the recruitment lead as needed.
  • Conduct New Hire Orientation and educate new hires on company benefits, policies, procedures, and other relevant information.
  • Assess and implement improvements to the onboarding and orientation process to enhance the new hire experience.
  • Learn and apply knowledge relating to employee relations and performance management to assist in resolving issues and improving workplace dynamics.
  • Partner with the HR team to lead employee engagement activities and events to foster a positive workplace culture.
  • Assist with the management and coordination of leave of absence (LOA) cases, ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
  • Serve as the backup for payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely payroll administration.
  • Complete employment verifications and respond to EDD claims as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including onboarding documents and other HR-related files.
  • Create and send company communications, such as new hire announcements and company newsletters.
  • Generate reports to track HR metrics and provide insights for decision-making.
  • Assist with the administration of employee benefits programs and respond to inquiries.
  • Support the HR team by leading various projects aimed at enhancing organizational effectiveness.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and track required certifications and compliance training to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in human resources, including experience with recruitment and onboarding.
  • Knowledge of HR laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and payroll systems; experience with ADP Workforce Now is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to walk between multiple office locations that include the use of stairs (elevator is only available in some instances).

This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
