Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic Technical Manager to lead our Data Science Operations team. This individual will play a pivotal role in driving the implementation of new systems, supporting existing core infrastructure, and ensuring the seamless execution of projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in data science, project management, and leadership, with a passion for mentoring and guiding a diverse team of data professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of Data Scientists, providing guidance, mentorship, and support in all aspects of their roles.
  • Oversee the implementation of data science projects, from conception to delivery, ensuring alignment with client objectives and organizational goals.
  • Serve as a technical expert, leveraging advanced data science methodologies and cutting-edge algorithms to extract insights from diverse datasets.
  • Lead the team in an agile scrum/kanban environment, playing the scrum master role to ensure efficient project execution and delivery.
  • Utilize agile methodologies to plan and prioritize project tasks, facilitate daily stand-up meetings, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and stakeholders to groom the backlog, define user stories, and track progress using tools such as JIRA or Azure boards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, develop workflows, and optimize performance for large-scale data analysis.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing data science workflows, best practices, and methodologies.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity through regular audits, data validation processes, and adherence to privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration across teams, fostering a culture of innovation, knowledge sharing, and teamwork.
  • Act as a liaison between the Data Science team, business stakeholder and upper management, providing regular updates, reports, and strategic insights.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a technical management role, preferably within the data science or analytics domain with total IT experience of 7+ years
  • Technical proficiency in data management systems such as Data Domain, with hands-on experience in designing and optimizing data pipelines, processes, and workflows.
  • Strong programming skills, with expertise in Python or other relevant programming languages for data manipulation, analysis, and automation.
  • Experience leading teams in data-related projects, including data collection, preprocessing, cleaning, and analysis.
  • Proficiency in data science tools and platforms such as KNIME, Alteryx, Altair, RapidMiner, etc.
  • Strong understanding of machine learning concepts and techniques, with practical experience in model development, evaluation, and deployment.
  • Experience leading teams in an agile scrum/kanban environment, with the ability to play the scrum master role.
  • Experience with agile project management tools such as JIRA or Azure boards is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and motivate a diverse team.
  • Knowledge of data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and ethical considerations in data science.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and big data technologies is desirable.
  • Familiarity with SQL for data querying and manipulation.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development, with a desire to stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in data science.
