Location: Edison, NJ

Hours Per Week: 36.00

Hours Per Day: 8.00

Days Per Week: 5.00

Schedule Notes: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, Every Other Weekend Required. Holidays as Needed. No On-Call. 13-Week Assignment.

Patient Volume: Up to 80 Pediatric Patients per Day

Float Requirements: Float within department—ED Adult, Peds, IMC.

Priority: Must be highly reliable and available to work all days other than those pre-disclosed prior to the offer. Must not have alternative jobs that interfere with HMH schedule.

Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse (RN) in our Pediatric Emergency Department (ED), you will play a critical role in providing specialized and innovative care for pediatric patients during emergency situations. You will be responsible for quick and accurate assessment of patients with physical and mental health conditions, prioritizing their needs, and delivering effective care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care: Deliver high-quality, compassionate care to pediatric patients in emergency situations. Perform thorough assessments and develop effective care plans.
  • Emergency Response: Handle a wide range of trauma situations with quick and decisive actions. Maintain a calm and efficient approach in high-stress environments.
  • Clinical Skills: Utilize clinical knowledge and analytical skills to formulate and implement nursing care plans. Demonstrate proficiency in a variety of professional nursing services.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel to ensure a coordinated approach to patient care.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records. Document care provided and update patient information as needed.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and effective patient care.
  • Patient Advocacy: Advocate for the needs and rights of pediatric patients and their families. Provide emotional support and education as needed.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Experience: Minimum of 18 months of nursing experience in a pediatric ED environment. Recent ED experience within the past six months.
  • Clinical Competence: Demonstrated performance and practice in a pediatric emergency setting. Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary for effective care planning.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital staff.
  • Professionalism: Ability to perform a wide variety of nursing services with professionalism and expertise.
