We are assisting our client in seeking a highly skilled Linux System Engineer to join the IT team, working in a fast-paced, agile, hyper-converged environment utilizing Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
This is a 100% on-site position.
Position Overview:
As a Linux System Engineer at MMG, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining a global Linux environment while ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards. You will enhance legacy systems, document IT engineering efforts, and provide Tier III operational support. This role requires collaboration with diverse IT teams to fulfill integration and technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- IT Engineering & Development: Lead the design, deployment, and maintenance of a robust Linux environment. Ensure that all engineering efforts adhere to IT best practices and cybersecurity compliance.
- Collaborate with architects, administrators, sustainment teams, and installers to integrate and implement new capabilities in an agile, multi-disciplinary environment.
- Tier III Operations & Sustainment: Provide Tier III support by developing automated solutions to streamline administration and sustainment tasks. Enforce configuration management and recommend cybersecurity best practices.
- Document all work processes and outcomes to support team members, users, and leadership. Regularly brief the team and customers on project direction, updates, and solutions.
- Technology Prototyping & Testing: Engage in the development, prototyping, and testing of technologies to support project needs.
- Occasional travel (up to 10%) may be required for project collaboration and implementation.
Qualifications:
- Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI with CI Poly is required or the ability to obtain a Poly.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in Linux integration, engineering, and administration.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Technical Expertise:
- Proficiency in Linux administration, including scripting and automation.
- Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies and shared storage.
- Strong knowledge of automation tools for enhancing system administration and sustainment.
- Communication Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly brief and document technical processes and solutions.
