The Planning Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategic supply chain plans, by creating and maintaining comprehensive production schedules that include efficient resource allocation and accurate inventories to ensure timely delivery of products. Additional responsibilities include ensuring the continuous production of Zirconia products; including raw material, capacity, component and finished good planning.

Schedule: M-F, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

The day-to-day:

  • Translates projected forecasts, incoming volume, and work scopes into a production plan with a time-phased build schedule.
  • Develops and implements a capacity planning model to facilitate identification of capacity issues and recommend areas of additional focus or improvement.
  • Works closely and proactively with planners to establish and maintain inventory levels that support manufacturing build schedules and forecasts, specifically using lean processes to deliver superior results and on time deliveries.
  • Manages load leveling and bottleneck scheduling and utilizes theory of constraints (TOC) for more accurate scheduling.
  • Works with inventory control teams to ensure adequate stock levels, minimize waste, and reduce carrying costs.
  • Monitors and manages production capacity, making adjustments as necessary to meet changing demands and optimize resource utilization.
  • Develops and maintains counter measures to address the root causes of gaps in planning.
  • Compares current and anticipated orders with available inventory of raw materials.
  • Analyzes historical data and forecasts future demands to make informed decisions and to acquire additional supplies as needed.
  • Schedules demand, based on product mix, along with equipment capacity / capability to
  • provide accurate commitment dates to customer service team across multiple product lines.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for and liaison with sales, logistics, and manufacturing departments.
  • Provides input to finance on operating plans for the sales and operations planning (SIOP) process, concerning incoming volume and capacity.
  • Integrates sales orders with master schedule; coordinates availability of raw materials, supplies, equipment, and staff as needed to meet delivery dates.
  • Maintains master distribution schedule for the assigned facility; revises as needed and alerts appropriate staff of schedule changes or delays.

What does it take to be successful:

  • Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Supply Chain, Finance, Business Management, or related field and 7+ years’ experience in supply chain planning preferably in a manufacturing or distribution environment required, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 5+ years cumulative experience using forecasting tools and best practices, including techniques and methods to develop forecasting models PMP certification preferred.
  • 5 - 7 years of project management experience.
  • Proficient in computer applications, with advanced knowledge of the MS Office suite and Windows operating system.
  • Competent in working with spreadsheets and quickly learning new Excel functions.
  • Experience using order management programs and customer relations management software.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage change & demonstrate a can-do attitude while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to learn technical concepts by reading work instructions and standard operating procedures and completing on-the-job training.
