Overnight Production Supervisor

Shift: 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM (2 days on, 2 days off, plus every other weekend)

Position Overview:

Thermon is seeking a dedicated and experienced Overnight Production Supervisor to join our Wire Plant team in San Marcos. This is an onsite, night-shift role where you will have a direct impact on our production processes by overseeing the work of our production staff, managing resources, and ensuring that deadlines and quality standards are met with minimal supervision.

As the Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading a team of production workers, assigning tasks, and monitoring output at various stages of the production process. You will ensure that company policies, including safety protocols, are strictly followed, and you will play a key role in staffing decisions, including hiring, disciplining, and, when necessary, terminating employees. Additionally, you will be involved in continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of our production operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Lead and support the production staff on the overnight shift, ensuring that all team members are properly trained and equipped to perform their duties. You will manage work schedules, time off requests, and leave of absences, ensuring adequate staffing to meet production needs.
  • Production Management: Oversee all production activities during the night shift, assigning employees to specific production stations and monitoring output levels to ensure that production targets are met on time and with high quality. You will also enforce all company policies, including safety protocols, to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Staffing & Development: Play a key role in the recruitment, selection, orientation, and ongoing development of production staff. You will work closely with HR to manage performance, address any disciplinary issues, and make decisions regarding promotions, transfers, and terminations.
  • Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement: Ensure that all materials produced meet company quality standards, and work to resolve any Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) or customer complaints that arise. You will participate in continuous improvement initiatives, such as Kaizen events, to evaluate and improve production processes.
  • Resource Coordination: Manage inventory levels of raw and finished goods, coordinating with the Purchasing department to ensure that materials are available when needed. You will also monitor and requisition stock materials as required to maintain production flow.
  • Hands-On Support: Provide hands-on support to the production team when necessary, assisting with machine operations, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring that production equipment is properly maintained. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for equipment and assembly operations.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Experience in wire manufacturing or sheet metal fabrication is a plus.
  • Education: A GED, Technical/Mechanical diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude, with the ability to use manual machine and hand tools. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ERP systems is required. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and root cause analysis is essential.
  • Physical Requirements: The ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs. is required.
