Aquinas Consulting is currently look to fill a Mechanical Design Engineer Job in Milford, CT for one of our key clients in the Manufacturing Industry. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development and performance of custom tooling and modification of existing designs of electromechanical machinery systems in accordance with customer application requirements and company productivity, quality and financial standards. Over time, you will have time to contribute to the development of new product lines and potentially design new machinery based on customer needs and market growth.

Mechanical Design Engineer Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal management and customers to define scope and complexity of design and fabrication requirements to satisfy customer application projects.
  • Participate in design projects reviews. Identify design and production requirements to meet unique design applications and projects.
  • Design custom 3D tooling utilizing customer supplied 3D files.
  • Design will include, but not limited to, development of assembly and detail drawings, Bill of Materials, sourcing components, interfacing with vendors, defining special material requirements, procedures for assembly/testing, post assembly troubleshooting and final documentation.
  • Prepare technical reports, design specifications documents and operational manuals.
  • Communicate with all functional levels to ensure successful design and production objectives and strategies are achieved and supported as requested.
  • Ensure workplace safety standards are upheld, notify operations management of any issues, observations or concerns regarding violations, or potential improvements to department safety.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of industry and design engineering experience.
  • Experience contributing to the design of industrial equipment/machinery is desired.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD (KeyCreator or SolidWorks) and Microsoft Office.
  • Sound knowledge of design and engineering principles and best practices (DFMA).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills. Ability to handle multiple projects on a daily basis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
