Clark County Indiana is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Chief Court Reporter for Superior Court 6. Superior Court 6 is primarily responsible for civil law cases.
The candidate will be responsible for the recording and preservation of all court proceedings. A summary of responsibilities and qualifications is below:
~ Chief Court Reporter is the Administrative Assistant to the Judge and is responsible for managing a staff of 4 court reporters including staff scheduling, timekeeping, and ensuring that work is completed in a timely manner by the staff. The Chief Court Reporter is responsible for maintaining the daily Court calendar and trial docket, requesting jury panels, managing jury trial, filing all quarterly and annual reports with the appropriate State agencies.
~ Designated by Court to perform official court reporting services including recording court sessions; answering phones; assisting the public with questions; preparing paperwork and court orders; scheduling hearings; communicate with law enforcement, jail personnel, litigants, attorneys, and law office staff; coordinate with the Court Financial Administrator and Court Administrator for planning and implementation of the annual budget and the purchase of all supplies and equipment.
~ Proficiency with computer, office equipment and good verbal and written communication skills required.
~ Ability to work under minimal supervision and accurately complete duties with frequent interruptions and pressure of deadlines.
~Ability to work as a team to complete tasks and cross-train, maintain strict confidentiality of records and information.
~Usual hours and days are Monday - Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, with paid holidays and PTO; additional hours may be required based on court docket; proper dress attire required.
~High School Diploma or GED required; College courses and/or experience in the legal field preferred.
~ Physical requirements include prolonged periods of sitting and entering data, occasional lifting up to 25 lb., walking, standing, listening, hearing, speaking.
~ This position is salaried, non-exempt. The salary is $52,000.00 for 35 hours per week, paid bi-weekly. Hours in excess of 35 hours per week will be given compensatory time.
~ Position offers the Clark County Government Health Plan and the Public Employee Retirement Plan.
