ROLE SUMMARY:
The Special Event & Fundraising Manager will be an essential part of the Development and Marketing team and will be responsible for successfully planning and executing all fundraising events (gala, golf, giving day), as well as community events including Open Houses and Give Back Nights. The Special Event & Fundraising Manager will manage each event from start to finish, including marketing needs, sponsorship and in-kind solicitation, day of event management and post event follow up. Additionally, they will serve as the primary donor database administrator and will report to the Chief Development Officer.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SPECIAL EVENT & FUNDRAISING MANAGER CAN LOOK LIKE:
  • Plan and execute multiple fundraising events—from initial planning, marketing, sponsorship and in-kind solicitation, on-site event management and post-event follow up
  • Work with planning committees to build and manage timelines and ensure all key deadlines are met
  • Plan and draft all event-related content to social and traditional media outlets
  • Ensure staff awareness of events and create avenues for them to share information
  • Track event key performance areas and identify areas for improvement
  • Ensure donors and event attendees are thanked timely and appropriately
  • Utilize and maintain Better Unite Database to ensure accurate tracking of donor information
  • Assist with grant management by tracking existing grants to ensure proper follow up is provided
  • Organize and maintain inventory of relevant and up to date marketing/collateral material for all events
  • Perform other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
Our ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree and has successfully managed fundraising events of all sizes for at least 5 years. Must have small to mid-size non-profit experience and understands the need to wear multiple hats. Must have excellent communication skills and a great deal of self-sufficiency in accomplishing their duties.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision
  • Ability to problem solve and to be accountable for results
  • Experience in writing and designing enticing event marketing materials
  • Experience in working with committees to manage events.
  • Successful solicitation of corporate sponsorships, in-kind donations and annual donors.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and Better Unite (or similar Donor Databases)
  • Proficient in Graphic Design utilizing Canva, Adobe Design Suite, and Photoshop
  • Ability to work occasional weeknights or weekend days for non-workday events
  • Experience with grant writing and grant management.
