Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic Chef de Cuisine to lead the kitchen as the Rooster & the Till. The ideal candidate possesses a team oriented, growth mindset with a focus on providing an amazing guest experience. They’re organized, compassionate, loyal and positive. They will be responsible for leading the team and embodying a leadership style that promotes creativity and growth.

Rooster & the Till, a Proper House Group concept, is a 72 seat modern American restaurant located in the growing market of Tampa, Fl. With over 10 years in operation, Rooster & the Till is a Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand recognized and James Beard nominated (2017 Best Chef South), independently owned and operated establishment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop menu items that match our brand
  • Set and maintain cleanliness and organizational standards within the kitchen and storage areas
  • Maintain inventory control systems and follow budgetary guidelines when ordering
  • Set and maintain quality control systems
  • Plan menus and hit new menu target dates
  • Hire, train, supervise, and schedule staff
  • Assist in reviews of BOH employees
  • Work with vendors to assure we are receiving the best quality products and pricing
  • Deliver pertinent information to the GM and Director of Operations
  • Ensure that a culture of care is being implemented and exercised with employees
  • Recognize opportunities and implement creative solutions to areas of improvement
  • Develop and maintain avenues of profitability on a quarterly basis
  • Work with the marketing team for necessary promotional collateral

Qualifications:

  • At least five years of culinary experience, including experience in a leadership role.
  • A culinary degree or certificate is preferred, such as an associate or bachelor's degree in culinary arts
  • Thorough knowledge of cooking techniques, equipment, food safety, and sanitation regulations.
