We are expanding our team and seeking an experienced Senior Project Accounting Manager to join our dynamic team, reporting to the Director of Accounting and Reporting. This role is key to renewable energy project management and involves overseeing major accounting transactions, managing special projects, and driving project reporting for assets in development, under construction, and in operations. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of GAAP, accounting system operations and best practices, and excellent organizational and communication skills. A high level of self-motivation and efficiency is essential to help manage the active development pipeline and a growing operating fleet 

 

Responsibilities: 


  • Manage accounting activity related to projects and project entities, including accounting distributions, cross charges and allocations, and reports preparation;
  • Lead monthly and annual financial closing, reporting, and issue resolution for projects;
  • Lead and manage the Project Accounting team to ensure timely and accurate financial statements and reports; 
  • Actively participate in daily operational tasks alongside managing the team, demonstrating willingness to engage in the ‘hands-on’ work necessary for the team’s success; 
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline project accounting processes and enhance control over transactions; 
  • Ensure GAAP compliant accounting policies and processes are fully established and properly followed for accounting and reporting of project related transactions;
  • Prepare, review, and ensure accurate capture and attribution of journal entries, daily transactions, and monthly expense allocations to projects;
  • Prepare and review complex monthly general ledger account reconciliations;
  • Assist in technical accounting areas such as Business Combinations (ASC 810), Revenue Recognition (ASC 606), Leases (ASC 842), Property, Plant, and Equipment (ASC 360), as well as credit agreements related to construction, lines of credit, letters of credit and interest rate swaps;
  • Review monthly draw funding requests for construction lenders and investment partners;
  • Assist with financial statement analysis for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close;
  • Proactively collaborate and build close partnerships with various departments, including Structured Finance, Asset Management, and Development; 
  • Support external financial statement audits;
  • Assist in the preparation and review of corporate accounting policies and procedures; 
  • Other duties as required or assigned. 

 

Key Qualifications:


  • CPA strongly preferred; 
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, including supervisory/team management experience; 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field;   
  • Understanding of energy projects, including but not limited to ASC 606, ASC 842, tax equity, and experience with foreign and multiple entities is highly desirable; 
  • Experience in renewable energy industry, understanding of renewable development preferred; 
  • Highly effective communication skills (verbal and written); 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail; 
  • Ability to develop strong partnerships and influence people; 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize appropriately and handle multiple tasks simultaneously; 
  • Knowledge of Workiva and Sage Intacct is a plus. 

 

Compensation and Location: 

 

Salary: A base salary commensurate with experience. 

Bonus: An annual bonus will be awarded based on individual performance and the overall success of the business.

Location: Ability to work in the United States is a requirement. Preference is given to candidates located in Austin, TX, or willing to relocate. Remote will be considered on a case-by-case basis. 

Travel: Travel for quarterly team meetings may be needed.
