Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:

This position is responsible for handling sales of building materials and products to customers and contractors either in person at the sales counter or via phone while providing prompt and courteous service. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to, operating the cash register, processing customer payments, processing and providing refunds for returned merchandise, answering the telephone and directing calls as needed, as well as maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of the sales counter.

Responsibilities include:

-Respond to customer inquiries regarding product selection, placement of orders, requests for prices and quotations, scheduling of deliveries, and providing customer follow-ups as necessary

-Listens to and resolves customer service complaints or requests when appropriate. Requests assistance from the Store Manager in resolving customer complaints when necessary

-Input customer orders, pricing information, and additional data into the point-of-sale computer system, ensuring the accuracy of invoices, work orders, and sales tickets

-Operate and balance cash register daily

-Research credits, returns, and late payments as needed

-Actively seek to minimize shrinkage of inventory and protect the store against shoplifting and internal theft

-Work with Outside Sales Representative(s) to ensure customer satisfaction, including, but not limited to, responding to questions or inquiries about orders and/or product inquiries and pricing

-Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and contractors

-Perform other assigned job duties and responsibilities in the store as requested by the Store Manager, including, but not limited to, stocking, mixing paint, cutting keys, etc.

-General knowledge of all of Fitch Lumber’s products inside and outside

-Follow up with customers via telephone when appropriate

-Vendor knowledge-familiar with area vendors and products they stock

Requirements:

Qualifications for this position include:

-Previous sales experience, and knowledge of building materials, applications, related equipment, and/or construction industry is desired, but not required.

-Friendly, outgoing personality

-Interpersonal and communication skills to be able to talk and especially listen to customers and contractors.

-Ability to utilize company point-of-sale system (Advantage)

-Confident, self-motivated, and enjoys working in new situations

-Calm working under pressure with the ability to multi-task

-Strong mechanical aptitude with attention to details

-Highly competent in the areas of accuracy, organization, planning, and problem-solving

-Should be familiar with inventory and inventory control
