About the Role:

Swanson Health Products is seeking a dedicated and experienced Production Manager to lead our Packaging and Manufacturing departments. In this role, you will be responsible for creating a safe and efficient work environment, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with industry standards such as UL, NSF, and cGMP. Your focus will be on maintaining cutting-edge equipment, implementing comprehensive training programs, and using data to inform strategic decisions.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Safety & Quality Assurance: Ensure that all production departments maintain high standards of safety, product quality, and operational efficiency, following cGMP, NSF, and UL guidelines.
  2. Staff Training: Develop, implement, and maintain training programs to ensure all employees are well-trained and up to date with procedures and safety protocols.
  3. Data Management & Analysis: Build and manage data systems and forecasting tools to support decision-making and process improvements.
  4. Scheduling & Forecasting: Monitor daily back orders, minimize out-of-stock situations, and balance scheduling between meeting deadlines and maintaining productivity.
  5. Team Leadership: Set and achieve departmental and company goals with a focus on continuous improvement, creativity, and effective team management.
  6. Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with Purchasing, Receiving, Quality, Facilities, Process Engineering, HR, and Shipping to meet customer service expectations and internal needs.
  7. Equipment Management: Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and operated efficiently.
  8. Budget Management: Develop and manage departmental operating and capital budgets, define headcount needs, and propose capital expenditure projects.
  9. Team Development: Lead and support department personnel to achieve company goals while maintaining a positive, safe, and productive work environment.
  10. Sanitation: Actively participate in the Sanitation Team to maintain cleanliness and safety.


What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Proven experience in manufacturing and team management.
  • Mechanical background is an advantage.
  • Experience in team building and employee development.
  • Proficiency in data analytics and using data for decision-making.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and accomplish goals effectively.


Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Management, Engineering or Operations required and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in management of operations. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential responsibilities and duties of the job as listed above.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

In this role, you will manage supervisors and their teams, ensuring smooth operations. This includes responsibilities such as interviewing, hiring, training, performance management, and problem resolution, all in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
