Position Summary

The ideal candidate is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive vocational rehabilitation program tailored to individuals with traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and developmental disabilities. The goal is to empower participants through skill development, job placement, and continuous support, facilitating their integration into the workforce and community.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Program Development and Management

    • Design and implement vocational training programs that address the specific needs of TBI and developmentally disabled individuals.

    • Develop individualized rehabilitation plans (IRPs) that include assessments, goal-setting, and progress tracking.

    • Collaborate with healthcare providers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive care and support.

  2. Participant Assessment and Support

    • Conduct initial assessments to determine participants' vocational interests, skills, and abilities.

    • Provide ongoing counseling and support to participants to address barriers to employment.

    • Monitor and evaluate participants' progress, adjusting programs and goals as necessary.

  3. Job Placement and Employer Engagement

    • Build and maintain relationships with local businesses and employers to create job opportunities for program participants.

    • Provide job coaching and on-site support to ensure successful job placements.

    • Educate employers about the benefits of hiring individuals with disabilities and provide guidance on workplace accommodations.

  4. Staff Supervision and Development

    • Supervise and train vocational rehabilitation staff, ensuring adherence to program standards and best practices.

    • Foster a supportive and collaborative team environment.

    • Conduct regular staff meetings and professional development sessions.

  5. Program Evaluation and Reporting

    • Develop and implement methods for tracking program outcomes and effectiveness.

    • Prepare regular reports for management, stakeholders, and funding agencies.

    • Utilize data to make informed decisions and improve program quality.

  6. Compliance and Quality Assurance

    • Ensure program compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and accreditation standards.

    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, best practices, and legal requirements.

    • Conduct regular program audits and quality assurance reviews.

  7. Community Outreach and Advocacy

    • Represent the organization at community events, meetings, and conferences.

    • Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals with TBI and developmental disabilities.

    • Promote public awareness and understanding of vocational rehabilitation services.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field is required.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in vocational rehabilitation, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Experience working with TBI and developmentally disabled populations is highly desirable.

  • Certification: Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) or eligibility for certification preferred.

  • Skills:

    • Strong understanding of vocational rehabilitation principles and practices.

    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

    • Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.

    • Proficiency in using assessment tools and developing individualized plans.

    • Competency in data analysis and program evaluation.

    • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Work Environment

  • This position typically operates in an office environment but may require travel to job sites, community events, and participant homes.

  • The role may involve occasional evening or weekend work to accommodate participants’ needs and community events.
