Job Summary

United Construction is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have an associate's degree or equivalent and a strong background in working with vendors and subcontractors. This role includes, but not limited to processing invoices, managing payment cycles, pay applications, following through with compliance, and other AP/admin tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Invoice Processing: Accurately process and verify a high volume of vendor and subcontractor invoices, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

Payment Management: Prepare and process checks in a timely manner.

Vendor Relations: Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors, addressing any discrepancies, and resolving payment issues promptly.

Record Keeping: Maintain organized and up-to-date accounts payable records, including vendor files, and related documentation.

Expense Analysis: Assist in analyzing and reconciling vendor statements and accounts, identifying and resolving any discrepancies.

Month-End Closing: Assist in the month-end closing process, by having all invoices processed and posted in the correct month.

Process Improvement: Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the accounts payable function.

Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including operations, to ensure accurate and timely processing of payables.

Qualifications

Education: Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field, or equivalent experience preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounts payable, preferably within the construction industry.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook.

Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities with attention to detail.

Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.

Organizational Skills: Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Problem-Solving: Demonstrated problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to resolving issues.

Knowledge: Familiarity with construction industry practices, vendor management, and subcontractor relations is a plus.
