Job Title: Machine Operator

Reports to: Operations Manager

FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt

Division: Georgetown, SC

Work Hours: 6:00am – 3:00pm- or until daily orders are completed.


Job Summary:

Responsible for operating manufacturing equipment in a safe and efficient manner.


Job Duties & Responsibilities:

- Sets up production machines each day according to established procedures.

- Operates production machines to produce parts in accordance with established standards and guidelines.

- Manipulates controls in an efficient manner to minimize waste,

- Inspects produced parts for faultiness and reports flaw immediately to management.

- Detects and promptly reports malfunctions to management.

- Maintains an adequate supply of operating materials and obtains additional material according to procedures.

- Documents production activities for each day, as assigned.

- Performs work duties as assigned.

- Work well with others.


Qualifications & Requirements:

- Must be able to read a tape measure.

- Must be able to read and understand production tickets.

- Must be able to stand for the entire workday.

- Must possess the ability to exercise good math skills.

- Must possess good time management skills.

- Must be able to report ready to work each day on time.


Education/Experience:

- High School Diploma or general Education Degree (GED) required.

- 1 to 3 years of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

The Building Center, Inc., founded in the Charlotte metro market in 1977, has grown into one of the largest non-publicly traded lumber and building products dealers in the US.

Accordingly, The Building Center maintains a fleet of over 300 trucks to service the Carolinas, with locations in Georgetown SC, Columbia SC, Holly Hill SC, Easley SC, Rock Hill SC, Pineville NC, Gastonia NC, Boone NC, Greensboro NC, Mebane NC, Monroe NC, and Ocean Isle Beach NC.

The Building Center leverages its sizable regional presence to purchase and sell branded and commodity products at competitive market prices. Inventories are maintained and managed to meet the needs of individual markets, regional building practices, and metro architectural trends.

This level of ready product availability and service includes truss plants in north and central North Carolina and millwork/door shops in both the Triad and Charlotte metro locations. Additionally, custom millwork and prefab components are built-in Pineville, which also sources and fabricates exotic wood products like reclaimed lumber flooring, siding, cabinetry, and mantles.
