SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Counseling Center Clinician at LifeWorks plays a crucial role in providing compassionate and comprehensive mental health support. In this position, you will engage in individual, group, couples, and family therapy within our welcoming LifeWorks office. As a dedicated professional, you'll bring expertise in behavioral and parenting interventions, leveraging trauma-informed clinical modalities to make a positive impact. Your responsibilities will encompass assessment, diagnosis, case management, and the implementation of effective treatment plans for a diverse range of individuals, including children (0-11 years old), adolescents (12-18 years old), and individual adults. By joining our team, you'll contribute to fostering a supportive environment where individuals and families can thrive, making a meaningful difference in the lives of those seeking mental health assistance. Your commitment and skills will be key in creating positive outcomes for the well-being of our clients and the community we serve.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Foster collaborative relationships by working closely with the Program Director and our esteemed clinical team.
- Provide individual, couples, group, or family therapy to a diverse and complex population, tailoring your approach to meet unique needs.
- Actively participate in team and agency meetings, contributing valuable insights to enhance our collective efforts.
- Demonstrate flexibility by offering therapy sessions outside regular hours, ensuring accessibility and accommodating diverse schedules, including evenings until 7:30 pm on selected weekdays. Example shift: 10:30am-7:30pm 3 days a week.
- Uphold transparency and accountability through timely documentation of services, aligning with both agency and contract requirements.
- Excel in comprehensive case management, skillfully coordinating and referring to services, managing crises effectively, and seeking consultation when needed.
- Serve as a liaison for the agency, maintaining open and effective communication with referring parties to enhance our support network.
- Dedicate yourself to achieving required productivity and billing requirements, ensuring the sustained quality of our services.
- Collaborate seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams, including social workers, case managers, and other providers, contributing to a holistic and integrated approach to mental health care.
- Regularly engage with caregivers, recognizing the importance of involving family and support systems in the therapeutic process.
- Meticulously maintain client files in accordance with agency and contract standards, reflecting the highest level of professionalism and compliance.
- Actively maintain your associate/license status following BBS guidelines, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing professional growth.
- Embrace adaptability by willingly taking on other duties as assigned, contributing to the dynamic and supportive environment at LifeWorks.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships.
- Develops and maintains a positive team working environment with staff, clients, and partnerships.
- Detailed oriented with strong organization and time management skills with the ability to understand written and spoken details and data; to review, audit, and utilize detailed information; ability to communicate clinical and programmatic details clearly.
- Clinical practice - training in trauma informed care (or willing to learn); understanding of family system approaches to treatment.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment with minimal supervision and multiple deadlines.
- Advanced listening skills and speaking with people of varying backgrounds and experiences.
- Empathy and the ability to navigate difficult conversations with a positive outcome.
- Strong critical thinking abilities to assist in clients overcoming challenges they are facing.
- A valid California Driver's License and a properly insured vehicle for use on the job is required.
- Prior to beginning work, you must be able to pass the background check by the DOJ.
- Current TB clearance (within one year).
- A Master’s degree in a field for therapists (psychology, social work, etc) which has enabled them to apply for and receive an associate registration through BBS (Board of Behavioral Sciences).
- Registration types we can employ: AMFT, ACSW/ASW, APCC and licensed types: LMFT, LCSW, LPCC.
- Bilingual and bicultural candidates are encouraged to apply. Additional hourly compensation for English/Spanish bilingual employees.
- Any additional training or certifications related to managing trauma, or specific to children, teens, and parenting.
- At least two years of experience in a mental health setting.
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This job operates in a professional office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Individual may be required to help move small items less than 25 lbs. Individual must have the ability to work flexible hours when needed to best accommodate clients after school/work up to 7:30pm, 3 days a week.
