Job Summary:

Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Technician will assist the refinery with the creation, modification, and storage of digital drawings using AutoCAD software. They will collaborate with Engineers, Technicians, and Project Managers to ensure the accuracy of the drawings. They will work closely with Document Control to manage the revision history, distribution, and storage of native files. They will follow document control procedures for obtaining historic documentation relevant to the projects that are being worked on and follow all workflows / procedures established by the refinery.

Essential Functions:

  • Utilize redlines from previous revisions and update established drawings.
  • Create new drawings based on project needs.
  • May conduct site visits to create as-builts, ensure sizes, equipment types, instrumentation types, and safely take photos for records
  • Draft refinery-related drawings including but not limited to:
    1. P&IDs
    2. PFDs
    3. Piping Isometrics
    4. Plot Plans
    5. Equipment Layouts
    6. Electrical Schematics
    7. One-Line Diagrams
    8. Building Layouts
  • Perform other tasks as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Previous experience as a CAD Technician or equivalent.
  • Refinery related work experience or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in computer aided design software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products.
  • Experience in Bluebeam or other PDF editor software.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • N/A

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 1 to 3 years of experience primarily in document control of refinery projects and/or large construction projects required
  • Experience with document control software commonly used for project engineering and construction activities (AIM, Assai, Hexagon, AVEVA, etc.)
  • Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) drafting required

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking
  • Must be able to pass a physical test of pushing, pulling, and lifting a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements over long periods of time
  • Requires frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching
  • Requires lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring equipment and materials
