Requirements

Director of Marketing & Communications: This is where you come in.

We are seeking an experienced and passionate generalist to partner with our sales leadership in driving significant business impact. Your priority as our Director of Marketing & Communications will be to develop our marketing strategy from top-to-bottom and ensure it aligns with the goals of our organization. While leading our marketing and communications team, partnering closely with our sales teams, and supplementing with external contractors and agencies, you will ensure that the work we do is productive, aligned and effective at achieving results.

This role requires deep experience in integrated marketing activities and a wealth of knowledge and best practices from previous experiences working in-house for relationship-driven organizations.

The right candidate for this role will function as a coach-player, feeling just as comfortable creating high-level strategy, managing external agencies, and executing campaigns, as well as rolling up their sleeves to do the work needed to help our dedicated team achieve their mission.

In return for achieving ambitious goals, you’ll be rewarded with increased ownership, numerous growth opportunities, and more freedom than you’ve ever experienced.

Top deliverables in the first year to be a hero:

  • Marketing & Brand Strategy: Develop Mac-Miller’s marketing strategy ensuring competitive differentiation and unique value propositions for our brand and individual business-units; develop messaging frameworks to support the strategy and ensure execution aligns and accelerates sales activities.
  • Go-To-Market planning: Create go-to-market campaigns and plans in partnership with our business units that expertly weave together paid & organic marketing efforts that are aligned and effective at achieving targets.
  • Research: Conduct audience, industry, and marketplace research with the business units to inform go-to-market strategies.
  • Internal Communications: Develop and implement an internal communication strategy to ensure that all employees are informed of marketing initiatives, company updates, and key milestones; oversee monthly internal newsletter.
  • External Communications: Serve as the primary point of contact for all external communications, including media relations, press releases, and public statements. Oversee publication of 3x/year customer facing newsletter. Develop and maintain relationships with key media outlets and industry influencers to enhance the company’s public image and brand visibility.
  • Agency Management: Evaluate and manage external agencies to supplement our internal resources. Work to integrate with the internal team and agency-to-agency to achieve best in-class-results.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the marketing budget, ensuring maximum ROI on all marketing initiatives.
  • Reporting: Facilitate monthly performance evaluations of all marketing initiatives and campaigns, making recommendations for continuous improvement. Host quarterly business reviews with key business unit stakeholders and executive leadership to align marketing’s impact with the business.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest market and industry trends to ensure that we maximize mission impact.
  • Lead and manage a diverse team: Align existing team roles and responsibilities, develop metrics and goals for individual success, manage expectations and deliverables.
  • Crisis Communication: Together with the Brand Manager, develop and implement crisis communication plans to manage and mitigate the impact of any potential public relations issues. Provide guidance and support to the executive team during crises, ensuring timely and accurate information is disseminated to stakeholders.

The Director of Marketing & Communications role reports to Amanda Spraker, Chief Administrative Officer and is part of a collaborative team engaged in a variety of projects and initiatives to support our growing business. This highly visible role interacts with all levels and functions within the organization.

Your Background: What kind of person will thrive in this role?

You should have…

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or related field.
  • Over 10 years of experience across various marketing disciplines, including brand management, messaging, digital marketing, and event planning.
  • Experience in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) industry is a plus.

And everyone you work with should describe you as…

  • An exceptional servant leader with a growth mindset.
  • Data-driven with extensive experience in conducting research to inform and shape strategic direction.
  • Someone with a proven track record of launching successful cross-channel campaigns that blend organic and paid marketing efforts to achieve impressive results.
  • A skilled presenter, ensuring effective communication of key insights and fostering informed decision-making at executive levels.

And you should be motivated by…
