The Vice President of Development plays a crucial role in driving the growth of Buff City Soap by identifying, pursuing, and securing new franchisee recruiting and unit opening opportunities. This position is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive business development strategies to achieve our expansion goals and ensure the long-term success of our franchisees.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Create and refine Buff City Soap’s development strategy.
  • Develop and implement strategic and market plans to prioritize and pursue new development opportunities in target markets.
  • Recruit new franchise partners for Buff City Soap.
  • Generate leads through various channels, including networking, industry events, partnerships, and online marketing efforts.
  • Lead the franchise sales process from initial contact through closing, including negotiating terms, finalizing agreements, and facilitating onboarding.
  • Guide and consult with key internal stakeholders and franchisees on market planning, site selection, LOI submittals and lease negotiations.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with prospective and existing franchisees, franchise brokers, industry influencers, and other key stakeholders. Serve as the primary point of contact for franchising inquiries.
  • Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify emerging growth opportunities and areas for expansion. Use data-driven insights to refine business development strategies and maximize franchisee ROI.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, including operations, marketing, merchandising and finance to ensure alignment and support for franchise development initiatives.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the development team to foster a culture of excellence and growth
  • Ensure compliance with all franchise regulations and legal requirements; work closely with legal counsel to review franchise agreements, disclosure documents, and other legal documentation to mitigate risks and protect the interests of the company and franchisees.  
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in franchise development, business development, or related roles, preferably within the franchising industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully identifying, pursuing, and closing franchise opportunities, with a strong understanding of the franchise sales process.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze market trends, identify growth opportunities, and develop actionable plans to drive business growth.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others to achieve common goals.
  • Player-coach mentality with the ability and disposition to succeed in a lean, fast-paced environment that requires not only strategic leadership but also execution effectiveness by leading and doing.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts and influence key stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant business tools and technologies.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to attend industry events, meet with prospective franchisees and support franchise development efforts.
