Job Summary: Fast growing Patient Centered OB/GYN clinic seeking a Surgery Scheduler to be a key player in our commitment to giving patients the best experience possible, while we provide them the highest quality patient care in our area.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Greet visitors as soon as they enter, determine their needs, and direct them to the proper area of the facility.
Collect information from patients, including insurance information, money for copays and contact information via phone or in person to put into companys software system.
Maintains confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations and EFM policies.
Adheres strictly to EFM departmental standards, protocols, and policies, including state and federal regulations.
Communicates effectively and professionally with coworkers, managers, and patients via phone, email, or in person.
Answers phones diligently and efficiently.
Responds to or redirects telephone calls to appropriate staff/departments.
Maintains current knowledge of all insurances, including verifying benefits and eligibility for OHP, DCIPA, and Atrio, including PCP assignment.
Advocates for patients by creating appropriate patient cases, requests, communications, and appointments in Athena.
Communication with outside provider offices, facilities, and insurances via phone, fax, and computer.
Keeps an active working knowledge of Athena, engages in continuing education and trainings as offered by manager or company.
Accurately accounts for credit card transitions posted and balances batch and the end of the night.
Promotes an environment filled with teamwork, a positive outlook, and constant professionalism.
Schedules requested surgeries at appropriate place of service.
Notifies Patients, Physicians, Necessary staff, insurance companies and Surgical place of service (Mercy Medical Center and Oregon Surgery Center) of all required information IE: surgical forms, prior auth approval/denial, Pre-op and post-op appointments, and any required medical procedures prior to surgery (EKG for example)
Submits all required Prior Authorizations for procedures, medication, medical devices
Maintains current and in depth understanding of insurance requirements for Prior Auth approvals and surgical requirements
All other duties as assigned by manager.
Obtain and maintain the proper DHS Consent and surgical forms at all times required. Hard copies and digital copies are required.
Submit all proper consents and instructions to MMC and OSC in the proper time frame.
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:
High School Diploma or equivalent
2 years experience in the medical field
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Able to maintain the confidentiality of private information.
Friendly demeanor and positive attitude.
Assess patient needs and document accurately
Communicate with the provider and other nurses and team members to ensure the patients well being
Maintain a clean, neat and safe work environment for patient and staff according to policy and procedures
Participate in economical utilization of supplies
Ensure equipment is maintained in a safe and clean manner
Minimize non-productive time and fill slow periods with activities that will enable you to prepare to meet the future needs of EFM WH

Physical requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands and fingers, handle, or feel; and reach forward with hands and arms.
The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
Must be able to withstand physical and emotional stress.
Requires long hours of standing and moving.
Must be able to lift up to 15 - 35 pounds at times.
