Pace Academy, an independent college preparatory school in Atlanta, Ga., with an enrollment of 1,150 students in Pre-First through 12th grade, is seeking a Middle School Softball Head Coach for the 2024-2025 season.

REPORTS TO:

Varsity Softball Coach and Director of Athletics

WORK HOURS AND EXPECTATIONS:

A part-time, August-to-November seasonal appointment. Responsibilities include practices and games (between 2-3 hours per commitment) on Monday-Friday and possible weekend needs. All coaches are employed on an annual basis and continued employment is based on a seasonal review conducted by the Director of Athletics/Varsity Softball Head Coach.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working closely with the Varsity Softball Head Coach, the Middle School Head Coach is responsible for supporting various aspects of the softball program. The coach is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by Pace Academy and Georgia High School Association (GHSA).

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Possesses and maintains a coaching philosophy that is in accordance with the mission of Pace Academy

  • Has experience coaching and a solid understanding of how to work with student-athletes in grades six through eight;

  • Demonstrates s strong commitment to the student-athlete concept

  • Displays effective leadership, coaching and recruiting skills

  • Maintains good communication skills with players, parents and the Office of Athletics

  • Is energetic, self-motivated, flexible, punctual, dependable and a team player

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Team coaching with the coaching staff on a daily basis

  • Drives players to/from games, as needed

  • Represents Pace Academy and the softball program in a professional manner and within the bounds of good sportsmanship

This is an exempt position that is paid a coaching stipend over the duration of the season.
