Job Summary: The Equipment Operator is responsible for operating a variety of equipment for groundwork and construction purposes. This position may interact with clients where customer service is a core responsibility. This position reports directly to the Landscaping Manager.


Primary Duties:

  • Operates machinery such as excavators, skid steers, tractors, zero-turn mowers, and plows in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Follows direction of Foremen and Landscape Manager as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or job site.

  • Loads and unloads materials, transports them to designated areas, and ensures proper storage.

  • Collaborates with team members to compete projects on time and within specifications.

  • Maintains accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance, and repairs.

  • Performs pre- and post-shift equipment inspections in accordance with Relax & Company safety standards, as well as state regulations, and reports any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the Landscaping Manager and Safety & Fleet Manager.

  • Assists with site preparation and other property maintenance related tasks as needed.

  • Follows all health and safety regulations, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment.


Skills:

  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures related to equipment operation.

  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and mechanical aptitude.

  • Works well as part of a team or independently.


Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.


Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience operating equipment preferred.

  • Experience working in seasonal outdoor conditions.


Licenses & Certificates:

  • Valid driver’s license without violations, and applicable certifications for equipment operation.


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, and operating equipment.

  • Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination.

  • Must be able to work in various weather conditions and terrains.

  • Must be able to lift 100 pounds at a time.
