Under the supervision of the Drafting Manager, the Drafting Technician position will be responsible for assuring that the 3D modelling and takeoffs will be done accurately and in a timely manner. Open communication will be maintained with all salespeople and managers. They will educate themselves in all our drafting and modeling software. All employees are expected to be consistent in following company policies and procedures and safety guidelines; timeliness, quality, accuracy, and thoroughness of work performed; attendance, dress, leadership, teamwork, honesty, integrity and respect for others.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Uses Estima to do takeoffs in a timely manner. Collaborate with sales team and/or customers on any issues/concerns.

2. Uses Javelin to do 3D modelling in a timely manner.

3. Communicates timelines to sales staff in a timely manner.

4. Has a team player attitude and creates a team player atmosphere.

5. Monitors and maintains negative inventory on hand by utilizing reporting systems.

6. Responsible for coordinating account managers’ needs.

7. Check incoming blueprints for completeness and interface with sales/customers if any additional information is needed.

8. Draw floor layouts for customers.

9. Visits jobsites to check conditions and/or analyze problems identified by customer.

10. Generating 2D drawings or 3D models of architectural, engineering or manufacturing designs by using CAD or similar software.

11. Calculating the dimensions and other physical components of the design to ensure the technical drawing has the correct scale.

12. Archiving building schematics to use and reference in the future.

13. Coordinating with other construction team professionals to discuss the product requirements necessary to complete technical drawings and negotiate changes.

14. Other duties as assigned.

15. Must abide by Company Values, Rules of Engagement and culture.

Requirements:

Education Possess an associate degree or higher in drafting, computer-aided drafting and design, or related field or substitute with equivalent prior experience. Must be able to read, write and speak English and have the ability to work with and understand printed forms and documents.

Experience Prior experience in the building industry or customer service is desirable, but not required. Some Construction experience and Computer drafting experience is preferred.

Skills Positive interpersonal skills

Physical Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds and meet the physical requirements as defined in the pre-placement physical

Other Must be able to pass preplacement business math test

Must be able to maintain positive, professional relationships with customers and co-workers.

Must be able to understand and follow instructions, both verbal and written

Must be able to organize and prioritize the workload assigned

Must be a self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision to complete assigned projects

Must maintain regular and consistent attendance record
