Position Overview:
Join Qualus as a Senior Engineering Technician, where you will play a vital role in shaping the future of power services.

The Senior Engineering Technician is tasked with executing design assignments that necessitate a solid understanding of fundamental design methodologies and practices, working under minimal supervision.

This position involves the preparation of technical documentation for electrical installations associated with power sector projects. The generated drawings will serve as essential resources for construction activities.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop new drawings based on previous project examples and established standards.

2. Create detailed drawings from rough sketches, notes, client examples, vendor drawings, and verbal instructions.

3. Collaborate with engineers to assemble comprehensive drawing packages.

4. Conduct research utilizing catalogues, specifications, corporate standards, and other reference materials.

5. Engage in all facets of substation structural design, including the creation of steel performance drawings, fabrication drawings, and foundation designs.

6. Assist Transmission Line engineers with O-Calc analysis and design tasks.

7. Calculate structural heights and weights, concrete volumes, equipment fit-up, and other fundamental tasks.

8. Coordinate designs with other disciplines, including Substation Physical and Protection & Control.

9. Take ownership of the quality and precision of your work.

10. Participate in quality assurance and quality control initiatives.

11. Complete assignments within established timelines to align with project schedules.

12. Contribute to engineering project scheduling and budget oversight.

13. Undertake additional duties as necessary.

Qualifications:
1. A minimum of 2 years of experience in civil/structural design or a related field is required.

2. An Associate's Degree in Drafting or Electrical Design is preferred.

3. At least 2 years of experience using O-Calc software.

4. Familiarity with industry-standard practices for concrete, rebar, and structural steel detailing.


5. Knowledge of relevant codes and industry standards, including ASCE 113, ASCE 7, ACI 318, International Building Code, or AISC Steel Construction Manual.

6. Ability to produce steel drawings is advantageous.

7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

8. Strong mathematical skills, including algebra and basic trigonometry.

9. Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively convey information to team members, management, and clients when necessary.
