Job DescriptionJob Description

The Regional Manager - Custom is responsible for initiating and developing strategies in identified markets toward long term relationships with strategic targets. The Regional Manager - Custom is accountable to achieve annual sales goals and managing assigned core accounts; while identifying, developing and selling new customer opportunities to increase sales and profitability.

Must live in one of the following states of coverage

Essential Accountabilities


New business development

  1. Identify and close business with new customer opportunities.
  2. Establish key relationships with decision makers / influencers.
  3. Communicate customer and market needs to research and development and new product development teams.
  4. Identify competitive response scenarios and strategy.
  5. Support marketing plans and tradeshows.
  6. Recommend new products or technologies to target markets.
  7. Assist with project management activities through new product development process.

Grow/maintain customers

  1. Conduct needs analysis with customers and develop proposals.
  2. Account development.
  3. Develop and maintain account records, account plans, territory status reports and customer information.
  4. Maintain and build key relationships with decision makers / influencers.
  5. Develop forecasts and goals.

Deliver Sales Growth

  1. Deliver annual sales targets.
  2. Assist in developing pricing strategies.
  3. Support execution of price increases.
  4. Understand and sell value based pricing.

Gather competitive information

  1. Identify technology trends and maintain industry technology knowledge in the areas of materials, design, tool lead times, sustainability trends and process technologies.
  2. Develop and maintain market knowledge and remain current on trends.

All other duties as assigned by Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years sales experience in a manufacturing setting, thermoforming preferred.

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of thermoforming, injection molding or other plastic forming processes.
  • Familiarity with consumer/retail products in the packaging industry.
  • Organization and time management.
  • Relationship building and maintaining.
  • Detail orientation.
  • Understanding of business and financial information.

  • Computer and software skills:
    • Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
    • Customer Relationship Management software (salesforce.com)
    • Oracle (preferred)
  • Presentation development and delivery.

Other Mental Requirements: Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities


Travel Frequency (in addition to seminars or related training)

Approximately 60% travel required.
