Position Description:
The Family Care Specialist works directly with legal guardians providing Triple P (Positive Parenting Program-Level 4) parent education and works directly with adolescents and teens providing Aggression Replacement Training.  The Family Care Specialist engages children and youth from the community and juvenile justice system in activities that enrich and support emotional and developmental growth.  This position is responsible for the coordination and implementation of interventions and activities designed to support safe and stable environments for youth and families.  Primary responsibilities include:
  1. Facilitate the development of an individualized service plan with each family.
  2. Provides approved skills curriculum to client and family to address identified needs in home, school, office, or community settings.
  3. Reassess the needs of the child and family every 90 days to modify service plan.
  4. Coordinate services with treatment team members.
  5. Facilitate child and family efforts to obtain any financial assistance or services for which they may be eligible.
  6. Assist in the planning and implementation of activities; actively participate in those activities with the children and youth as directed.
  7. Provide education and role modeling for social skills.
  8. Assist in the development of therapeutic relationships while encouraging personal growth of children and families toward independence.
  9. Ensure compliance with agency policies and procedures.
  10. Maintain current records, meeting all recording requirements of the agency.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s in a human service-related field required, or education field.
  • Fluent in Spanish. English Required.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in a therapeutic, child welfare, or juvenile justice setting with children and adolescents is preferred but will also consider other candidates based on education or related experience.
  • Will be trained in Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) and Aggression Replacement Training (ART).
  • Must maintain certification in First Aid and CPR.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:                                                                                             
  • Knowledge of Social Work practices.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain professional, confidential work environment.
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse populations and work force.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which vary according to client needs.
Work Conditions:
  • Environment: Hybrid – Office, Community settings
  • Range of Schedule:  Mon – Fri, 7:00 am to 8:00 pm
  • Travel: Frequent (Must have reliable transportation and valid Texas Driver License)
