Position Summary: 
Production Assistants support and perform hands-on production functions. This role involves creating simple digital-first video content, assisting senior producers with video production tasks, setting up and operating studio and field production equipment, and managing video assets. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Create simple digital-first video content, including using motion graphics templates, that is optimized for social media distribution. 

  • Assist more senior producers in the production of short and long-form video content including researching assets, transcription, translation, copy editing, and subtitling in English and foreign languages. 

  • Assist with hauling gear, setting up camera, ground-support, audio, and lighting equipment for both studio and field production, as well as strikes sets, packs, returns and properly stows equipment after use. 

  • Independently operate studio and field video production equipment including cameras, teleprompters, audio gear, lights, green screen, etc. 

  • Coordinating production schedule to ensure all elements for a shoot or show are in place at the appointed time. 

  • Researching and securing material and other content for the production. 

  • Scouting locations and securing necessary permits/permissions 

  • Collaborating on creative treatment/show flow, operating camera, computer programs, audio, lighting, and other production elements. 

  • Ensuring that sets, props, and technical equipment are ready to use and in the right position, cues talent and ensures timings are met. 

  • Working with production team to formulate graphics or directly produces graphics, attending planning meetings with officials, producers, and stakeholders, assisting with promotional and marketing activities internally and externally. 

  • Manage video assets using a media asset management (MAM) system, following established standards for metadata tagging for distribution on digital platforms. 

  • Assist producers with making final videos 508 compliant. 

  • Train others on captioning and subtitling processes. 

  • Assists Program Manager with calendar issues at the direction of the Program Manager. 

Minimum Experience: 

  • Must be able to obtain OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Training Course Certificate or Construction Industry Outreach course by an approved federal OSHA training provider before entering employment.   

  • Experience in digital video content creation 

  • Ability to assist in various production tasks 

  • Proficient in operating production equipment 

  • Strong organizational and research skills 

** The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion, such as a) long periods of standing, walking, and bending; b) lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 100 pounds; and c) moving equipment, tools, materials, furniture, and a variety of other heavy objects**
