Job Summary:

The Accounts Payable Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of invoices and payments for Alvarez Construction.  This position requires a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to effectively work independently and as a part of a team.  The Accounts Payable Specialist will collaborate closely with various departments within the company.


Job Functions include:

  • Process vendor invoices accurately and efficiently, ensuring proper coding and authorization.
  • Review purchase orders, contracts, and other documentation to verify billing and resolve discrepancies as needed.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and follow up on any outstanding balances or discrepancies.
  • Prepare and process weekly check runs and ACH Payments in accordance with the payment terms and company policies.
  • Maintain vendor records and ensure that all necessary documentation is accurately filed and up to date.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve payment issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with procurement and project management teams to ensure timely and accurate recording of project-related expenses.
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects and initiatives as needed.


Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of accounts payable or relevant accounting role, preferably in the construction or real estate industries
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software. Knowledge of NewStar software is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer service-oriented approach.
  • General knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Associates or bachelors preferred
