JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary
Regal Boats is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Quality Engineer / Water Test Captain. This unique role combines quality engineering expertise with the ability to operate and test large boats up to 50 feet in length. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of boat systems and electrical components and a passion for delivering high-quality products to our customers.
Key Responsibilities

- Conduct thorough inspections and test boat systems and electrical components to identify potential quality issues.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose system and electrical problems and recommend effective solutions.
- Develop and implement quality control processes and procedures to ensure compliance with company standards and industry regulations.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to improve product design and manufacturing processes.
- Perform water tests on large boats up to 50 feet in length.
- Document and report test results, and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and repairs.
- Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and technological advancements.
Required Qualifications
- Strong understanding of boat systems, including electrical, plumbing, and propulsion systems.
- Experience in troubleshooting and diagnosing system and electrical problems.
- Proficient in the use of testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
- Experience operating boats on the water, including docking and loading onto a trailer.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license.
- Conversational English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in quality engineering, preferably in the marine industry.
- Proven experience operating boats up to 50 feet in length.
- ABYC and/or NMMA certifications.
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience in using quality management software.
Work Environment
Must be able to work in a non-climate controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature reaching over 100 degrees Fahrenheit at times.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to bend at the waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time. The employee is frequently required to climb into and out of the boats using stairs. The employee must frequently be able to lift 50 pounds, work 10 hour days with most of the time being on your feet, and work overtime, whether planned or unplanned.
