Job DescriptionJob Description

The Dispatch Coordinator will work directly with the Transportation Team including Dispatch Supervisor and Dispatch Manager on Routing and Dispatch of drivers on a consistent basis. The goal is to assist in the daily customer service and administrative activities of the Transportation Department to ensure accurate and prompt delivery service to our customers. The position requires the ability to work in a fast paced environment and work under time restrictions.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 11am-8pm

Everyday you will:

    • Assist Dispatch Supervisor to plan routes, determine order of stops, and adjust schedules as needed
    • Assign drivers to specific routes based on availability, location, priority and Hours of Service
    • Provides support to drivers on dispatch/route/tractor/trailer or other equipment issues
    • Communicate dispatch time, route, backhauls, and any other special instructions with Drivers
    • Communicate with Sales, Purchasing, Customers, and Drivers concerning delivery appointment times, and ETA
    • Use of E-Logs and TMS system to track and monitor driver movements in real time
    • Complete and email domicile lots sheet to track equipment effectively
    • Help find quick solutions to delivery issues such as delays, breakdowns, reschedules or re-routes
    • Monitor trailer temperature alarms
    • Maintain auto router
    • Serve as a back-up for Dispatch Supervisor and other Dispatch Coordinators
  • Additional duties as assigned

In order to thrive in this role you must:

  • Ability to read maps and a keen sense of direction
  • Excellent Math skills required
  • Excellent Problem Solving skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and with extreme time constraints
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Experience and Education Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply chain or similar field is preferred
  • Computer and Microsoft office experience required
  • Transportation Logistics experience preferred
  • Experience with Trimble/PeopleNet or other similar e-log preferred
