POSITION TITLE Mechanical Designer III

LOCATION New Orleans, LA

MANAGER Systems Designer Manager

POSITION TYPE Full-Time/Non-Exempt

SALARY $29.93-$37.90/Hour

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Mechanical Designer III is responsible for:

  • Develop SolidWorks 3D models and associated 2D drawings for existing and new products.
  • Create drawings to assist manufacturing with tools, jigs, fixtures.
  • Troubleshoot installation issues and recommend solutions.
  • Ability to select vendor hardware/parts that are compatible with systems and customer requirements.
  • Organize and maintain drawing file configurations and storage.
  • Process engineering changes and engineering related corrective actions and revise drawings to refine products based on input from engineering and production personnel.
  • Create product illustrated parts diagrams and write product manuals.
  • Other duties assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES

  • Associate of Applied Science or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Mechanical Designer.
  • 5 years of Solid Works CAD software.
  • 5 years of AutoCAD software.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks required.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Inventory, AutoCAD and converting files.
  • Good technical writing and professional communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work under limited supervision.
  • Boat mechanical and electrical knowledge to include fuel, cooling, steering, navigation, and propulsion systems.
  • Experience researching and reading ASME and ANSI drafting standards a plus.
  • Sheet metal and aluminium boat building or marine experience.
  • Machine Shop Experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Working conditions are normal for a Manufacturing environment where exposure to dust, fumes and airborne particles, temperature extremes and elevated noise level.
  • Employees must regularly lift and or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and or move more than 50 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, talk and hear.
  • Position requires use of computer, telephones, and other office equipment, reading, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Position occasionally requires ability to work in a manufacturing environment and boats from the beginning of production through the sea trails. This includes mobility to work in and around incomplete aluminum hull structure
