Job role: Network and Systems Administrator II

Duration: Contract to Hire

Location: City of Industry, CA 90601 - Onsite

Summary:

Provide system administration support of computers, servers, racks of equipment and configure/manage WAN/LAN interfaces. Provide support for web development, testing, system integration, installation scripts and other duties to support systems and network infrastructure. Monitor application processes to ensure high availability and accuracy.

Must-haves:

  • Ability to communicate in writing clearly and effectively and understand computer systems documentation. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of an organization.
  • Cisco Catalyst 3650 Series Switches: troubleshooting skills; Cisco route/switch configuration /manage WAN/LAN interfaces.
  • SDWAN project experience:
  • Will assist Palo Alto to FortiGate migration with SD-Wan conversion across 30 locations in the next 6 months with 4 technicians
    • Provide support for Mitel Phone system and coordinate with PBX vendors.
    • VMWare hosted servers and networking experience
    • Cisco router switches
    • Meraki wireless
  • Engaging with Internet Service Provider (ISP) to resolve internet, network issues due to people stealing copper wiring.
  • Azure Cloud understand concepts of Azure on the network side of it (private/public cloud)
  • RF engineering experience; more on performance and uptime

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.

  • Design and implement Microsoft and related Cloud technology solutions utilizing Office 365, Azure, EMS, and others
  • Perform Windows server administration including the maintenance of Active Directory, Group Policies, Login scripts, DFS, MS Exchange Server, MS SQL, and Back Office applications.
  • Manage Meraki wireless infrastructure to ensure optimum performance and adequate coverage
  • Oversee Matrix oil system including application servers, wireless transceivers and dispensing hardware.
  • Lead Systems and Network engineering projects as a subject matter expert across multiple domains (e.g., Public/Private Cloud, Windows, LAN/WAN)
  • Supervise vendors to ensure on time and accurate delivery of outsourced projects.
  • Provide support for Mitel Phone system and coordinate with PBX vendors.
  • Manage technical aspects of TecSys Warehouse Management including wireless barcode scanners, label printers and application data connectivity with manufacturing partners
  • Execute server and system upgrade including the application of service packs, patches, hot fixes and firmware recommended by manufacturers.
  • Perform production operation support including log reviews, backup/recovery procedures and periodic maintenance.
  • Diagnose and quickly resolve a wide range of Windows applications and networking problems to help minimize downtime.
  • Deploy various in-house built applications to both staging and production environments.
  • Oversee configuration management of various processes running Windows platform so as to enable controlled rollout of software versions with well-planned back-out procedures.
  • Complete advanced solution design including server, disk space provisioning and Network Infrastructure to ensure business objectives are met.
  • Implement and manage Server Storage Area Network (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS), Direct Attached Storage (DAS) or Hyper-Converged infrastructure; this includes disk array configuration and volume management.
  • Support applications., particularly DBS ERP, by reviewing error logs and messages, escalating to third-party support when necessary
  • Participate in Change Management Board to ensure product standardization and adherence to production policies and procedures.
  • Document and maintain accuracy of standard operational procedures and best practices of areas of responsibility.
  • Work with IT Management, IT Development, Accenture Support to ensure on time resolution of customer impacting incidents.
  • Oversee network-related projects in the office and hosting environments. This will include installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN appliances and of local and remote data center environments.
  • Conduct network system audits to determine the efficiency of hardware and communication components and make recommendations to upgrade as needed to meet business needs.
  • Participate in the development, implementation and testing of disaster recovery procedures for IT infrastructure.
  • Work schedules may include rotating off-hour and weekend support with other network team members to maintain consistent system availability.
  • Work locations may vary within the Western United States and require travel approximately 35 to 45 percent including overnight as required
  • Perform other related duties/work as required.

Competencies:

  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Server System, OSes, Exchange, SQL Server, SMS, MOM, OS400, and SharePoint
  • Intimate knowledge of virtualization and cloud technologies, including VMware, O365
  • Familiarity with the TCP/IP network protocol, Cisco route/switch configuration, Dynamic routing, network segmentation, firewall management, configuration
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Security Best Practices as applied to Data Center, Mobile and IoT technologies.
  • Knowledge of storage technologies such as SAN or Directory/Global Catalogue, LDAP, DNS, DHCP, etc.
  • Project management skills with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Strong understanding of objectives; good written and oral communication skills; good interpersonal skills; orientation; highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.

Qualifications:

Ability to conduct research into server issues and products as required; effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment; proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with 2-4 years of hands-on experience with network and server administration in an IT environment with multiple locations; or equivalent combination of education and experience

OR

Two-year degree from an accredited program or certification in Computer Systems plus 5 years' experience in a professional IT environment.
