Internship Overview

Creative Discovery Museum (CDM) is an award-winning nonprofit children's museum in Chattanooga, TN. We are hiring an Events Intern to join our team. If you're excited to be part of a winning team, CDM is a great place to grow your career. Primary responsibilities will include assisting the Director of Membership and Events with the planning and execution of membership, special events, and rentals.

Responsibilities for Events Intern

Events

  • Communicate with vendors to move event logistics
  • Attend meetings of the planning committee as needed
  • Purchase and organize materials and supplies for the event
  • Use Outlook to schedule meetings, block event space, and communicate with other teams
  • Assist with event registration management
  • Add upcoming events to relevant online calendars in the Chattanooga area and on social media
  • Meet vendors on day of to receive deliveries and materials
  • Assist with the execution of the events on event days
  • Ability to work alongside a diverse group of employees and simultaneously work toward many company initiatives at once

Other Duties (as needed)

  • Assist with social media for events
  • Assist with mailings (stuffing, postage, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications for Events Intern

  • Pursuing a degree in hospitality and/or event management or a similar field
  • 1-2 years of event experience
  • Comfortable working with Excel creating event schedules
  • Outlook experience

Hours/Pay

  • 15 hours per week, September through December (start and end date to be mutually agreed upon)
  • Flexible, some weekend or evening work may be requested
  • $10/hour
