Title: Sr Smart Grid Project Manager

Location: Portland, OR (Hybrid – 1 day Onsite)
Description
Project Manager (PM) within the Smart Grid Test Bed overseeing end-to-end smart grid demonstrations and supporting existing Department of Energy (DOE) smart grid grant work. Day-to-day work to be led by Team Lead, with select projects delivered solely by the PM.
Team and Work Environment
Can you give a high-level overview of your team size, roles, its initiatives/deliverables, and any tool/technologies specific to your team/department/project they will be supporting: The Smart Grid Test Bed team was established to deliver innovation field demonstrations through 6 projects and an $11M Department of Energy (DOE) grant. Projects include technology R&D, field installation, and customer programs. Current projects include smart solar, managed EV charging, DER management, smart thermostats, and batteries.
Team is comprised of 8 staff: 1 overall portfolio manager, 2 team lead technical program managers, and 3 project coordinators, 1 engineer, and 1 intern. The team works closely with partners from national DOE labs and local government agencies/non-profits.
What interaction level with this role have the team members and hiring manager? This role will lead/facilitate projects, take direction from the team lead, and follow-up with internal and external team members for action items. The role will report to the hiring manager, and take day-to-day direction from the team lead. The role will be accountable for project and portfolio deliverables, in addition to project management tasks/action items.
What would you say is the top priority for the worker over the first few weeks/months?: Quickly learning the key project partners/vendors, and beginning to lead formal project management in coordination with the team lead.
What do you foresee being the biggest challenge in this role? Integrating quickly with in-flight projects and software systems
