What does a Adult Mental Health Support Services Counselor do?

As a Mental Health Support Services Counselor at the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, you will play a vital role in the Mental Health Regional Supervised Housing Program. Your mission will be to support individuals with severe mental illness and possible co-occurring substance use disorders by providing quality services that promote independence and reduce hospital admissions. Your responsibilities will include offering individualized services, training in independent living skills, crisis intervention, advocacy, and supportive counseling in a mental health residential setting.

What we're looking for in a Adult Mental Health Support Services Counselor

To excel as a Mental Health Support Services Counselor at the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Human Services (such as Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling), be registered with the Board of Counseling as a QMHP-A, and have at least one year of experience working with adults with serious mental illness or emotional impairments.
