Reports to: President of NeuLife Rehabilitation of Florida                                                                         

NeuLife Rehabilitation of Florida (NLRF) provides post-acute rehabilitation and residential services for individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), Spinal Cord Injuries, and Neurological Disorders. 

Summary:

       The Senior Director of Clinical Affairs is a crucial position to manage and oversee the effective operation of nursing, physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy for the persons served.  

  • Participates in an interdisciplinary team to approve admissions and discharges
  • Assesses patients' physical and psychosocial status using interviews and reviews of health information, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies
  • Recognizes deviations from normal in the physical assessment; works collaboratively to formulate treatment plans
  • Acts as the liaison with all physicians associated with the program
  • Ensures physicians are charting and documenting appropriately
  • Implements appropriate management based on laboratory results, physical assessment, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeutic measures, admission, and discharge care by written practice protocols
  • Initiates appropriate actions to facilitate the implementation of therapeutic plans consistent with patients' continuing healthcare needs
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served
  • Demonstrates caring practices by providing a compassionate and therapeutic environment for patients and their families
  • Dictates and documents in an accurate and timely manner
  • Conducts or participates in daily multidisciplinary rounds
  • Writes or dictates reports and progress notes appropriately in the medical record
  • Triages patients
  • Share clinical expertise with professional and supportive personnel and collaborate with other healthcare disciplines to ensure continuity and quality of care
  • Works with case management to ensure smooth communication with families and stakeholders.
  • Adhering to agreed procedures for the ordering, administration, and safe custody of drugs and equipment by the internal policies, as well as state and federal law
  • Covering on-call when required
  • Participating in Manager on Duty weekend rotation
  • Reporting to the local administrator all matters that affect the management and clinical affairs
  • Participating in staff meetings

  • Acts as a role model and resource person for staff
  • Participates in the review and revision of policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates compliance with standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies
  • Establishes relationships with professionals of other health-related groups within the community
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication with diverse populations, including physicians, employees, patients, and families
  • Supervises Nursing Management Team and Therapy Directors
  • Work within established budgets
  • The CARF Team prepares and ensures policies and procedures are followed
  • Safety Committee Team

Licensure/Certification

  • MN, MSN, DNP, PhD, or DNS degree in nursing required
  • ARNP license in the state of Florida or Physician Assistant
  • After July 1, 2006, licensure applicants must have national advanced certification from an approved nursing specialty board
  • Maintains current BLS certification

Qualifications:

  • Aptitude and sensitivity for working with people with Brain or Spinal Cord injury
  • Must pass level 2 criminal background check
  • At least 3 years of management experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and Microsoft Outlook
  • Possess excellent communication and language skills
  • Must be screened for TB
  • Must be CPR certified

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to operate computers and other office machinery
  • Ability to move objects weighing up to 50 pounds 
  • Willingness to Travel 5-10%
