Compassionate Addiction Treatment (CAT) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving the downtown area of Spokane, WA. Our mission is to provide compassionate, holistic care to people with substance use disorders in a safe and therapeutic environment. Focused on removing barriers to treatment, people will be empowered to engage in recovery and live life to their fullest potential.


Bringing community connection to support the building of trust, hope and personal empowerment to people experiencing homelessness, combined with addiction, are primary goals of CAT.


Behavioral Health Technician - Sobering Center

We are seeking new team members that are passionate about recovery and compassionate towards our most vulnerable community members.

This is an opportunity to be part of a dynamic team doing innovative work using evidence based and promising best practices.


Additional services provided at Compassionate Addiction Treatment are IOP/OP, Certified Peer Counselors, MAT, Employment Case Management, Housing Case Management, Wound Care, Camp Hope Peer Navigators, Transitional Housing programs, and other services for our community members who are or have experienced homelessness.


Position Summary:

Behavioral Health Technicians provide supportive services, monitoring, and peer support to individuals participating in our Sobering Center. This is a project related to Camp Hope and requires working collaboratively with all involved agencies.


Behavioral Health Technician Duties

  • Prepare patient admission to the facility by completing patient screening, screen for potential medical issues, record patient vitals, and complete all agency forms in the admission packet.
  • Have a working knowledge of all CAT, Mental Health, Camp Hope and other social service and health agencies within Spokane County and facilitate client movement through identified systems.
  • Enter service encounters into the city CMIS system.
  • Prepare and complete referral and discharge forms.
  • Search and accurately inventory patient property
  • Check and record patient vital signs.
  • Keep accurate count of all patients and perform periodic room checks
  • Assist with medication observation for patients.
  • Prepare simple meals.
  • Answer phones and refer appropriately.
  • Conduct educational and informational community meetings.
  • Maintain your recovery and model skills and coping strategies that make your recovery work.
  • Foster a sense of belonging by treating all people who access our sobering center with dignity and respect
  • Use de-escalation skills and maintain a trauma informed approach when managing difficult situations
  • Mediate conflicts and model problem-solving strategies
  • Create a welcoming and hospitable environment
  • Treat every person with dignity, with an awareness of cultural differences
  • Ensures smooth operation of house functions while on duty (such as meals, activities, chores).
  • Participate in the development and implementation of service plans for each participant.
  • Provide supportive peer counseling and encourage each participant to make healthy choices in their lives.
  • Assures that household responsibilities and housekeeping functions are performed as required.
  • Provide supportive navigation to services for participants including mental health services, addiction services, and physical health services and other services as identified by the participant.
  • Maintain a self-care plan
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Tuberculosis screening
  • Be certified with Washington State as a peer support counselor or working on the certification. *Initial 8 hours of state training must be completed. The additional 40 hours of training may be done as paid "on the job training"

  • Work is performed in an office setting. You may be required to lift up to 50 pounds.

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $18.50 - $20.50 per hour
