The Project Coordinator at Ohio Gratings is a dynamic role that supports the progression of numerous fabrication projects through our production facility. This position involves coordinating work for the project management team, ensuring projects are completed on time and meet customer specifications. The Project Coordinator acts as the liaison between customers and internal stakeholders including Planning, Production, Fabricating, and Shipping. Additionally, this role offers a career path toward project management, emphasizing a positive attitude that supports both internal and external customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Gain in-depth knowledge of specialty products and services, including technical specifications, features, and benefits.
  • Review purchase orders and coordinate/troubleshoot all project aspects with Production, Sales, Detailing, outside vendors, customers, and Logistics to ensure timely completion.
  • Work closely with the project manager to understand project goals and objectives, providing support to achieve them.
  • Understand and communicate customer needs effectively.
  • Assist in planning, developing, and implementing all project activities, including project design, detailing, engineering review, production, outside services, finishing, and shipping per the executed purchase order.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to schedule, budget, and customer requirements.
  • Review and approve detailed drawings from customers and within the team to ensure accuracy.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination among team members.
  • Coordinate both inside and outside inspectors as needed.
  • Monitor production schedules, coordinate recovery solutions, and track task progress and deadlines, providing regular updates to the project manager.
  • Organize and maintain project documentation, status reports, and databases.
  • Act as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, providing timely responses and updates.
  • Adhere to company standards and procedures.
  • Direct, review, and approve change orders and communicate effectively with impacted stakeholders.
  • Participate in product strategy, development, and manufacturing coordination for new, existing, and emerging products.
  • Oversee packaging and shipping requirements, including truckload planning and crate design, to ensure safe delivery to the job site.
  • Identify and lead improvement initiatives related to the PM and Detailing group and beyond.
  • Provide support and coordination for the project management team and contribute to growth within a project management career path.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and excellent service for both internal and external customers.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to navigate stairs and walk throughout the manufacturing facility as needed.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and viewing two monitors.
  • Ability to work in an office setting with other team members onsite.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology (Bachelor’s Degree preferred)
  • Strong leadership skills and a positive attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Experience with MRP/ERP Systems preferred
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and customers in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong desire to learn new products and adapt to change
  • Ability to work on site at the Canton, Ohio campus
