This is a contract role for 25 to 35 hours a week. The position might convert to a fulltime position but it would be in Charlotte, NC.

We are seeking a talented and motivated Hardware Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have experience in hardware integration, testing, troubleshooting, and creating wiring diagrams. This role is critical in ensuring the seamless integration and functionality of our transit technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hardware Integration: Design, develop, and implement hardware systems and components for transit technologies. Work closely with software engineers to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software systems.
  • Testing and Troubleshooting: Conduct rigorous testing of hardware components to ensure reliability and performance. Diagnose and resolve issues related to hardware functionality and integration.
  • Wiring Diagrams: Create detailed wiring diagrams and schematics for hardware systems. Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for hardware designs, testing procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, project managers, and field technicians, to deliver high-quality transit technology solutions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in hardware engineering and transit technologies. Recommend and implement improvements to enhance system performance and efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, General, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in hardware engineering, preferably in the transit or transportation sector.
  • Strong understanding of hardware integration processes and techniques.
  • Proficient in creating and interpreting wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Experience with hardware testing and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations related to transit technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with transit-specific hardware systems and components.
  • Familiarity with software integration, API’s, and embedded systems.
  • Certification in relevant areas (e.g., PE license).
